Fun with Nifty Nabbers

My mom and I went out for a walk this morning and noticed so much trash everywhere that we decided to finally invest in some "Nifty Nabbers" (aka trash picker-uppers). We've been wanting to do this for a while because we knew the kids would totally be into it. The boys are all about recycling and saving the environment so Nick made a trip to Home Depot and made it happen.

After dinner, we showed the kids how to use the nifty nabbers and off we went searching for trash. They could've been out for hours I think and the sad thing is that there were hours of trash pick-up to be done. At first we started with a "trash trash" bag and another for recyclable items but by the end, it was all mixed up. Next time, we'll get a better sorting system going.

Gavin spotted something behind the bushes and went in for the pick-up...
Here it is....a single, men's size, black slipper.

Even Ellie helped. She had trouble with the nifty nabber so eventually she became a trash spotter and told us where to go.
Liam spotted a water bottle hidden in the bushes.
