The one thing that is "new" and absolutely adorable are the combination of your facial expressions and mannerisms. It is incredible how you move your hands as you speak and when you ask questions. Your teacher tells me that if she made you sit on your hands, you probably wouldn't be able to speak and we feel the same. You are at my favorite stage for any child. I love 3 year olds mostly because you say the darndest things. You have no filter and say exactly what you think. You have opinions. Strong opinions. The face you make when you're excited about something should be on a commercial. You get a shocked face when you're about to get something you really wanted. Going to Disney with you is so unbelievably fun. You get so excited over every little detail. It's worth every penny.
You are definitely the spoiled one of the group and not in that we buy you things or let you do more things but as the youngest one, you've had accessed to things we wouldn't have allowed at your age. For example, you get a lot more "junk" food than the boys did at your age. As a result, I feel like your palate has gotten used to the sugary or salty foods and has made you a pickier eater than the boys. You tell me every day, "I don't eat vegetables." Someone told you that (not someone in our family) and you have stuck with that. The funny thing is that you DO eat vegetables. You like celery and ranch, you eat (raw) broccoli and ranch and you will eat "ants on a log" (celery, peanut butter and raisins)....but those are not vegetables in your mind. So, what you really mean is that you do not eat vegetable soups, salads or stir frys. Your favorite foods and by that I mean just about the only things that you DO eat are: oatmeal, pancakes, string cheese, ham, yogurt and granola, and eggs (boiled or fried, not scrambled), almonds, walnuts, and plain brown rice. Well, those are the healthy things you eat. You will eat just about anything labeled as "snack" that comes in a package and ice cream. You love your ice cream....you are your daddy's girl in that front. :)
You are at a stage where sometimes you are SO independent and then at other times it's like you want to climb on me and never let go. At those times, we call you a spider monkey because you hang on to us like a baby monkey and it's the best hug ever. Though I will admit to getting annoyed when you do this at dinner time and prevent me from eating my dinner (Mama likes to eat!). At school, you are Ms Independent. You get out of the car and don't look back. You ask "who's going to pick me up?" and that's about it.
Play wise, you like to play Legos, you love your play kitchen and cook just about every day in it. You ride your bike with training wheels really well and you enjoy running and are pretty good at it. The last time we went to the track, you did almost 4 laps which is 1 mile with a couple of water breaks in between. You are interested in board games and have a pretty long attention span when you want to play.
You already have a sense of your personal style. You went from the toddler who hated dresses to a preschooler who throws tantrums when I say you cannot wear a dress to the playground. At least now, we've reached a compromise. You can wear dresses so long as you wear leggings under. You like to pick your own outfits every day. You hate to wear jackets which will probably be a bigger problem once we move to Chicago. At that point, it will not be as negotiable as it's been here in Georgia or Florida. You have a love/hate relationship with hair ties and bows. You love for me to buy them but hate to wear them. Every once in a while you will let me put what you call an "Elsa curl" in your hair, this means you allow me to do a braid just like Elsa from the movie Frozen. If I say, "ponytail" or "braid" you say no but you're ok with an "Elsa curl". [Side note: You should know that I don't encourage the princess culture or comparisons to princesses and we try to avoid using the language or references to princesses in our house. We've been working on making sure that you understand that while it is ok to be a princess, that's not the only way to be a "girl". Now that you've been exposed to "princess culture", you've definitely bought into it already so we've got our work cut out for us]
You put on a dinner show often. You will dance and make up songs in the living room as we eat dinner or right before bed time. Liam plays guitar along side you. Maybe one day you'll be a band. You are smiley, optimistic, and energetic. I look forward to the rest of your "three-hood". You are our little "three-nager" and although challenging at times, it is quite fun to be around you.
Love,
Mama and Daddy
