NG N SG +3: Christmas Weekend

On Christmas Eve, we headed over to my family's side of town. Christmas Eve this year was hosted by Maribel and John since we have so much family from PR visiting. Gavin and Isabel had a good time playing with all their toys. Gavin shared his cars (for the most part) and Isa let Gavin play with her stroller baby.

We spent the night at my parents' house so we could open up gifts in the morning and then head over to Nick's parents for the day. Gavin didn't really understand the concept of opening presents. As soon as he saw the little chairs under the tree, he pointed to the Cars one and said "Gavin" and pointed to the pink one and said "Isa"....not even 2 years old and already recognizes gender colors. :(

He really liked the wrapping paper (Cars) so he didn't want to tear it, he was very careful. We had to get him started and once he saw what was inside he was motivated to tear the paper.

As you can probably tell by the pictures, it was a "Cars" Christmas for Gavin. Our house literally looks like the Disney store.
Then off to Grandma and Grandpa Guittar's house.

You can always tell if Gavin likes a toy when he lays down on the floor to study it. He loves all modes of transportation but this one is particularly good for him because it's held together by magnets so he can easily put it back together when it breaks off.

Gavin was recently introduced to the Toy Story movies and he really enjoys them. He knows all the characters so he was really happy to get his own "Andy's Toy Box".

Not pictured here are the stocking stuffers. If you know the Guittars, you know that stockings is what Christmas day is about!!! We have become more efficient over the years (it used to be an all day affair with food breaks and all) and can get through them pretty quickly now. I grew up in a house where we didn't stuff the stockings but this has grown to be one of my favorite Christmas traditions that I hope to pass on to Gavin (even though we did NOT stuff his stocking this year!).

So after these two very long days, we decided to delay "Christmas" (opening presents) at our house until today (26th). This actually worked well since Gavin could open up presents at our house and we wouldn't need to rush to anyone's house right after. However, it was sort of anti-climatic-- we got up at the usual time and headed to Target for some clearance shopping. I had my eye on a couple of things and I was able to get most of them at 1/2 off along with some unexpected deals for Gavin's birthday party. Then came home, had lunch, put Gavin for a nap, THEN did presents. It was 3pm when we finally got around to opening presents. The bad part about this plan is that he had so many toys to play with, it was hard to get him motivated to open more presents. Here are some pics of Christmas at our house:

Back to presents. I think this one will have to wait a little longer as you can see by Gavin's face. Daddy was explaining how the stickers (Star Wars) in this book worked, Gavin listened but wasn't too enthused about it.
