Animal Kingdom/Hollywood Studios Day

I was really looking forward to going to Animal Kingdom with Gavin because I couldn't wait to capture his reaction to all the animals.  Sadly, the park was RIDICULOUSLY packed.  I really think they should have set a limit and closed the entrance once the limit was reached.  It was too packed to walk around even.  I absolutely hate being around that many people so I couldn't wait to get out! I felt bad that we had gone all the way out there and not done anything so we did hit the one attraction we knew Gavin would enjoy and would not be too full.  We took the train to the "affection section" of the park where kids can pet animals like sheep, goats, llamas, and pigs.  It was pretty cute although a germ nightmare for me.  The animals can roam freely in a gated area along with the kids.  This means that they can pee and poop anywhere---luckily, I did not see any poop (but I did see a wet spot).  However, I was constantly watching Gavin to make sure he did not touch the dirt/gravel.

Gavin loved this area.  He found a very nice sheep standing all alone and went and said "hi" to it (kind of reminded me of "Elf").  He had the sheep all to himself for a while.  He pet it and talked to it for a while.  He thought it was HIS sheep.  When other kids came to pet the sheep, he got upset and said "de Gavin" (essentially "mine!").

We had lunch at Animal Kingdom and then left to Hollywood Studios.  By that time, it was nap time.  Gavin fell asleep in the car and I managed to successfully move him to the stroller without waking him.

3-D glasses do the trick.  Gavin actually made it through the 3-D Muppet Movie...except once inside, he refused to wear the glasses (because glasses are for outside in his mind)

Then the main attraction...Lightning McQueen and Mater.

Gavin was a little "star struck" by the Cars characters.  He was so excited in line to see them and then once he got there, he didn't know what to do with himself.  It was really hard to take him away from the characters.  He cried so I just walked off to the side and kneeled down with him and explained to him that other kids needed to take their pictures with McQueen and Mater just like he did.  He looked on (see below) sadly.  I kept pointing out the other kids taking the pictures and after a few kids he said "no more" with a bit of an attitude.

Eventually, his attention shifted to one of those machines with a crank that makes souvenir pennies.  He cranked it a few times and we were able to distract him and start walking in a different direction.  We are starting to get glimpses of what the "terrible two's" are like. :)  

We ended the day with the Osborne Family light display of over 5 million Christmas lights.
